A YouTuber with a large English-speaking audience came to the remote Poshnary village, Yadrinskyy district of Chuvashia, to film what the “Russian hinterland” looks like for foreign viewers.

According to the 2002 census, 99% of the village inhabitants are Chuvashes.

Interestingly, with all its post-apocalyptic nature, it is also designated in the official census not as a dying out, but as a village with population growth:

This is what all empires have done at all times: they sucked the juices out of the colonies to maintain a luxurious life in the metropolis. This applies to all resources, from food and fuel to people. In the Ottoman Empire, as we know, there was the practice of “devshirme”, when the strongest, bravest and smartest boys aged 4-5 to 14-15 were regularly taken from the conquered peoples. They were escorted to the capital, where in military schools they prepared reinforcements for the Janissary regiments. Several centuries of such a policy led to the fact that the Janissaries, mentally attached not to their families and ethnic homeland, but to the military communities within the army units, became a serious political force. The tail began to twirl the dog – the Janissaries made palace coups, put their proteges on the throne, dictated state-political decisions in the interests of the guards-Janissaries groups. It became almost impossible for the native Turks to break into politics. First of all, the Great Port suffered from this.

The Washington Post, citing a senior military official whose name has not been released, writes that a plant for the production of Iranian drones could be built in Tatarstan.

When the All-Tatar People’s Congress (VTGC) asked the Verkhovna Rada to recognize Tatarstan’s independence, and when the international petition website Change.org published a petition to Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky to do the same, it evoked an unexpected reaction in Tatarstan itself. For example, Marat Galeyev, a deputy of the united Russia (no wonder!) in the State Council of Tatarstan, the republic’s oldest parliamentarian, said that Tatarstan had not declared its independence of the russian federation.

Since February 24, both the Tatar and Bashkir movements have evolved in a certain way. More and more representatives of our peoples understand what fate the Russian Reich is preparing for them in the event it is preserved. There appear more seditious thoughts that the Tatars and Bashkirs are not cannon fodder, they say, the war is not ours, etc. The most daring figures go even further – the war is a chance to create the independent states.
