The world will obviously never be the same after the war. Deputy Head of the Kalmyk Oirat People Congress Vladimir Dovadanov shares with Free Idel-Ural his take on possible scenarios of the situation development in the post-war Russia and future prospects of indeginous people.

The elder of Erzya people Sires Bolaen, elected to this position in the Republic of Mordovia in 2019, delivered a speech at the 21st UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous People.   

From the first days of 2022 dramatic events in Kazakhstan shocked the entire world. Patient and wise Kazakh people are whipped up into a state when they were forced to take to the streets motivated by the desire for social justice. The government was frightened by national-wide protests, the government started to falter.

Moscow isn’t going to abandon the idea of “final solution” for national issues. The idea about liquidation of national republics is pronounced more and more often. The mission to probe the reaction of native peoples was entrusted to Marat Khusnullin (Russian Deputy Prime Minister of Tatar origin). Traditionally the real aim to destroy national republics is camouflaged as “caring about economic and social well-being of our citizens”.

As is well known, VIII World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples was intended to be held this year in Estonia. Viia-Kadi Raudalainen, managing director of NPO Fenno-Ugria, informed the public that the Congress is re-scheduled to 2021 because of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

These days we have witnessed a new wave of repression against the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation.

It was recently revealed that Kambarka, an old plant for elimination of chemical weapon in Udmurtia, is going to be reconstructed into waste processing complex for pollutants of I – II classes.

On July 13, 2019 Rasken’ Ozks, the ancestral prayer of Erzyan people took place in Erzyano-Mokshania (Republic of Mordovia). On the eve of this event Council of Elders (erz. Atyan’ Ezem) chosen chief elder of Erzyan people, Inyazor, by secret ballot. Syres’ Boliayen’, chairman of Erzyan Val society and co-founder of Free Idel-Ural movement, was chosen as new Inyazor; he permanently lives in Ukraine and his candidacy was supported by 12 from 18 elders of the Council.

Mr. Loránt Vincze, president of Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), speaking at regional UN forum on education in Brussels, critisized Ukraine for its new law on official language.

At the end of April 2019, several European countries announced the suspension of Russian oil transit. The issue was a lack of quality of supplied raw materials according to the standard indexes of Urals Russian export mixture. As it turned out, the problem was high content of organochlorine compounds, which must be excluded.

National movements of Idel-Ural peoples use all possible means to protect their identity from permanent onslaught of Moscow. In this long-lasting and unequal struggle we have virtually no international support. Any display of solidarity with national movements of Idel-Ural is a portion of freedom which motivates us to move forward.
