They have already started discussions about whether sermons in Tatar are needed in general
Allegedly, fewer and fewer people speak it, which means it is not really needed. A mosque is not a school, an imam is not a linguist – this is the argument.
How did it all begin? From the fact the Russian-speaking jaw cannot into Tatar language and is indignant when not all mosques have translation from Tatar. How did it all end? With the question “and why should Tatar language be in mosques?”
But a language disappears much faster exactly when nothing is created in it, when it is not used anywhere. When a language is not spoken around, then those who might want to learn it begin to perceive it as “superfluous” and “useless.” Yes, sitting at sermons, they do not understand Tatar language. But at least this way they hear it and realize that this language is not alien on this land. As soon as they stop hearing it from others, then even more complaints about the language will arise against the Tatars.
Even now clashes happen between Russian-speaking and Tatar-speaking people from time to time. When the Tatar language is used even less, these clashes will happen much more often. The arguments of the Russian-speaking jaw will always be the same:
1️) “Everyone speaks Russian normally, but are you special?”
2️) “If they do not speak your language here, this is not your land.”
