The Tatar language is still lucky: what the statistics show

The success of the Tatarstan elites in preserving and protecting the Tatar language is well reflected in the statistics of passing the Unified State Exam. This is what “After Russia” tells about.

In 2008, 385 students passed the Tatar language exam;

2016	2017	2018	2019	2022
67	74	18	15	1 student.

The situation with all other languages in the Idel-Ural region is even more catastrophic. Even under the conditions of the full-scale invasion, when Moscow really needs cannon fodder from among the “national minorities”, the republican government is not able to beg for at least a slight weakening of assimilation.

For comparison: in Bashkortostan this year not a single student passed the exam in the Bashkir language. In English – 1655, in German – 12, in Russian – without fail, all 4451 students in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
