Sanitation of the Volga for 127 billion rubles: why only money will be laundered
In June, a group of Parliamentary Control headed by Zhanna Ryabtseva, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, came to Chuvashia. The group checked how, since 2018, the Chuvash part of the Sanitation of the Volga, an overall project for the Volga region, worth 127 billion rubles has been implemented. The essence of the project was to reduce by three times the discharge of polluted wastewater into the Volga Atӑl River. It is known that after the “reduction” of flows into the river, some of its beaches had to be closed.
The control checked 7 facilities. It has turned out that 3 complexes of treatment facilities do not meet the indicators, and the remaining 4 are storm sewers, which, preliminary, do not fall under this project. The total costs of implementing the project in Chuvashia amounted to about 1.75 billion rubles.
Residents of Chuvashia in the comments to this news complain, “Our officials are not afraid to launder money even from the federal center. They are immune.”
In fact, this occurs everywhere. Every time the Kremlin announces any “national project”, it almost always ends in the budget squandering with its local accomplices. But if Moscow “squander” the money of the colonies, and not its own (so-called “federal” funds), then the republican officials “squander” the money of their own republic.
It is noteworthy that in neighboring Tatarstan similar facilities have already been commissioned, but they … out of operation.
