National languages in the shadow of the war: paradoxes of development in the republics of Idel-Ural
An interesting and sad fact: the number of the most active authors of all 7 national language sections of Wikipedia in the Idel-Ural republics does not exceed 400 people, and the total number of written articles is less than 700,000. For 7 languages. While the number of people killed in the war originating from Idel-Ural is more than 10,000 people, and this is only in the last 2 years, not taking into account the previous 8 years of the war, where a total of 14,000 people were killed on both sides.
The high activity of the Russian version of Wikipedia is supported by just about 10,000 people, and it has already begun to collect the 3rd million articles. Articles that are written in detail and well organized, while most of the articles from the Idel-Ural versions of Wikipedia are just compressed dry text that was translated without any attempt of rewriting or improvement.
If the gauleiters of the Idel-Ural republics really wanted to develop the national languages (as they say), then they would not have sent those 10,000 people to the war, but would have hired them to work: to write articles in the national languages or at least translate them by machine translation and correct what was translated. Such a project would raise the status of the languages of the nations of Idel-Ural among other nations of the world and would help move closer to the full creation of the national language environments. Moscow certainly did this with its language. With our money. And for the moment we cannot do it even with our own money. But there are always people and money for the senseless imperial war.
