The Constitution of Tatarstan was adopted with the goal of creating an independent and sovereign state.
It was enacted following a referendum in which the majority of the population expressed their desire for independence. The constitution aimed to guarantee the rights and freedoms of every resident of the republic, as well as to provide protection and support for all Tatars worldwide. It was adopted as the only means to preserve the Tatar people from extinction.
The Tatar people’s desire to live in an independent country has not disappeared; it is merely suppressed and concealed by Moscow. The weaker Moscow becomes, the louder the Tatar voice will be heard.
This foundational body of laws will one day regain its full force, cleansed of all “amendments” imposed by the Kremlin’s directives.
Happy Constitution Day, Tatarstan!
