The ATPC appealed to Verkhovna Rada with a request to recognize the independence of Tatarstan
Today, the All-Tatar Public Center (recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation) sent an appeal to the deputies of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to support and vote for a resolution recognizing the state sovereignty and independence of Tatarstan.
The draft resolution was submitted to the Ukrainian parliament by 5 deputies of Verkhovna Rada on November 9. Earlier, an appeal to the deputies of Rada was signed by more than a hundred Tatar activists and public figures from different countries – the USA, Poland, Great Britain, including Farit Zakiyev, the chairman of the ATPC, and Rafis Kashapov, the vice-premier of the government of Tatarstan in exile, one of the co-founders of the Free Idel-Ural movement .
“In March 1992, the former autonomous republics, territories, regions that were previously part of the RSFSR and the USSR signed the Federal Treaty and formed the Russian Federation. Chechnya and Tatarstan did not sign this agreement. On March 21, 1992, a referendum was held on the state status of Tatarstan. But the President of Tatarstan and the Supreme Council of Tatarstan sabotaged the nationwide will. Only 30 years later, the first step was taken towards the revival of Tatar statehood, lost in 1552. And this step was taken in the capital of independent Ukraine, which is waging a holy war for its freedom and independence,” reads the appeal sent to Verkhovna Rada by the All-Tatar Public Center.
