Rafis Kashapov is now a foreign agent

The Russian occupation authorities included Rafis Kashapov, one of the co-founders of the Free Idel-Ural movement, Deputy Prime Minister of the government of Tatarstan in exile, on the lists of people who are foreign agents. This is stated in the documents of the Ministry of Justice.

Kashapov is a native of Tatarstan. Since the 1980s, he has been a member of the  All-Tatar Public Center (ATPC) nationalist movement.

In 2009, he was sentenced to 1.5 years of suspended liberty “for inciting hatred”, because he defended the rights of the Tatars, and in 2015 Kashapov was sentenced to 3 years in prison “for calls for separatism”, although Tatarstan never signed an agreement on joining the Russian Federation.

In 2018, Kashapov left Russia and received political asylum in the UK.

Let all representatives of the indigenous peoples be immediately listed as foreign agents, because what difference does it make if all of them are enemies of Kremlin’s under-empire, even if some people support it. They are enemies simply because they exist.
