Chechnya has stopped recruiting volunteers for the war with Ukraine and this may turn out to be bad news

Active recruiting for the Chechen unit was halted almost immediately with the argument that there were already more people interested than necessary. This completely unexpected turn is complemented by other news, giving it an alarming undertone.

Until a few days ago, Chechens were bombarded with advertisements promising money and delicious food. And suddenly a message appeared on the volunteer channel stating that recruitment had been temporarily stopped seemingly due to an influx of applicants. The recruitment promised to be resumed in a week.

Many experts speculate that in fact, they either ran out of cash, or someone in Moscow is thinking about the consequences of such recruitment. After all, Kadyrov is positioning himself for an unofficial leader of the pro-war party, while the conditionally anti-war figures in the Kremlin are afraid of such power, which could be used against them in case of oprichnina.

However, what adds to the already suspicious news is the information about repeated abduction of people who have disappeared in Chechnya before. According to the 1ADAT telegram channel, they are forced to sign contracts under threat of being criminally prosecuted and sent as cannon fodder in Ukraine.

This can be interpreted in different ways, but it looks like Kadyrov is running out of volunteers. Military formations cannot be formed at all. So, for the time being this process has been put on hold and the army temporarily changes its role from a source of ‘s independence to a way of getting rid of politically unreliable people once and for all.
